About Us:
In 1879, Mary Baker Eddy,
the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, organized the First
Church of Christ, Scientist in Boston, MA. Her church was “designed to
commemorate the words and works of our Master, which should reinstate
primitive Christianity and its lost element of healing” (Church
Manual of The First Church of Christ Scientist, in Boston, Mass.)
Now Christian
Science churches, societies, and informal groups can be found throughout
the United States and the world.
Our church is conveniently
located at the corner of Rt. 235 and Town Creek Drive in St. Mary’s
County. We serve those living in and visiting the Southern Maryland
region, including Naval Air Station Patuxent River. All are welcome.
Sunday Services:
Sunday services are held at
10 a.m. and are comprised of readings from the Bible and
Science and Health with
Key to the Scriptures
by Mary Baker Eddy.
Sunday School:
Our Sunday School for
children up to the age of twenty meets at the same time as our Sunday
morning church service. Lessons are rooted in the Bible and the weekly
Bible Lessons found in the
Christian Science
Quarterly. These
lessons are designed to provide a spiritual foundation for students and
to teach them the practical application of prayer.
Wednesday Testimony
Meetings:
Wednesday meetings are held
the first Wednesday of each month at 7:30 p.m. and provide an
opportunity to share healings, expressions of gratitude, and spiritual
insights.
Reading Room:
Our Reading Room is in our
church building and provides a quiet place for study and prayer. In
addition, the
Holy Bible: King James Version,
writings by Mary Baker Eddy, and current issues of the Christian Science
periodicals are available to read or purchase. Our Reading Room is open
by appointment only.
